Feminism is a word that often is followed by stigma and a very loud political voice. At Toronto Roller Derby league (ToRD) feminism is met with freedom and inclusivity. Being a woman has always come with the pressure of perfection and often the expectation of inferiority. But being a powerful woman that can be whoever she wants to have never been simpler, even on roller skates.

The sport of roller derby isn’t a sport that is often talked about. Throughout the sport’s long history, it has transformed from a marathon on wheels to an empowering female fight to the death. For these female athletes, ToRD offers them something no other sport can.

Wheatabitch, Gigawatts, and Arrrgyle share their experiences with roller derby on and off the track.
